Soft Cast Configurations
Soft Cast is a research project exploring the idea of supple behavioural architecture, capable of adapting and transforming through the active coupling of advanced computational tools and material behaviour. The studio’s research is currently being explored in a proto-type that is to be tested as a full-scale structure. Through an active system of light and deformable textile structures, this project explores a digital materiality that is intrinsic part of the process of shaping space evolving through force fields, matter and changing phase strategies.
Generative configurations are scenario based organizational strategies of the first full-scale flexible formwork structure embedded within a landscape. The research seeks to contribute to an evolving discourse that explores matter as computable and life like agent. This model challenges recent discourse through an active integration of material and social behavior examining a scenario and proto-typical environment of interaction. This architecture seeks to move beyond form and style and consider architecture as an active material agent.
